One decade ago…
This is us. 10 years ago. Can you believe it? It seems like I’ve known Chris my whole life, but ten years have really flown by.
I’ve always loved October. Football season, Halloween, fall weather. Our first date was 10/24/1997. How appropriate that we had little Bella right around this time. I get a whole maternity leave to appreciate a new life in our baby with a wonderful husband.
Chris and I first met about 4 years before we started dating, but really got to know each other in physics class fall ‘97. The day of the homecoming dance (where we were going with separate friend dates), Chris sent me a dozen roses to the house with a simple and sweet note. I was amazed and totally shocked. Knocked off my feet, really. Our first offical date was Friday the 24th. From then on, we have basically been connected at the hip. There is no one else I’d rather be doing life with.
This is us before Chris’ senior year prom:
We have taken LOTS of group trips together. We’ve always enjoyed that. We were just talking how we are looking forward to taking Bella skiing when she is old enough to start taking lessons! Here are some pictures from our Winterpark, CO trip in college with 10 friends:

This is the craziest trip EVER. Grand Canyon. 10 people driving across country in a 15 passanger van with no back country passes. We came back a changed group for sure. It deserves it’s own blog entry. Maybe I’ll let Morgan tell that story.
This is my favorite trip yet, Kauai 2006 with Kelly, Bobby and Morgan. Below: Surf lessons, a luau and cute Chris!

I love you, Chris. Thanks for being my best friend, my partner in life. You’ve never failed to amaze me. You are a great friend and father. I look forward to many more decades with you…
I’m not as good with words but I consider myself the luckiest girl in the world and "I love you more!" :) 143-44-58!

Oh my gosh… I thank God that I get to witness you both love each other, continue to grow together and believe that anything is possible…just look at our sweet sweet Bella!!!!

I agree with GG! I remember the look on KT’s face when she read that card! Who can forget “Where is your skirt?”, apartment boyfriend and the scapbook Chris made. It has been a fun ride. Love y’all

Hey Katie: Jim Holcombe send me the website with all the pictures. What a beautiful baby. You’ll be such a good mom. I’m so proud of you. I noticed the name “Reese” in Bella’s name. You know I love that name as it’s my son’s name. Reese was named after a cowboy when we lived in Dallas, Texas and we were watching a show called “High Chaporale.” Your too young to remember that show but it was a show with cowboys and indians and the main character’s name was Reese. I loved that name and so that’s what we named Reese. — Good luck as parents and enjoy life — it’s so precious and sweet. Tell your mom and dad hello for me. TUDI SOUTHERLIN

Physics in ‘97! Good memories :-) I don’t think ol’ Adair liked us too much…I remember Chris had a picture of Katie in a frame that he put on our desk (infatuated much?) and I used to trace my animal crackers every day into zoo scenes and color them in. Perhaps that’s why I hated Physics in college? No entertainment and a lack of foundational knowledge. But we sure did have fun. AND I got a zero on a test for skipping that class during Red Ribbon Week….who ever said you had to look for the red ribbon *between* classes? Oh, Central. Nostalgia.
